Ionised Alkaline Water in Weight Loss
As the holiday season approaches, many of us are looking forward to losing some weight. Some struggle with extra pounds around the waist all year round.
Consider your daily diet. What preferences or cravings do you feel helpless against and can’t overcome? Do they fall in line with expert guidelines for healthy eating? If so, maybe you just need to cut down your portion sizes to get back to the figure you were once proud of.
However, it’s likely that your eating habits are far from excellent. It’s quite a challenge to stick to a healthy diet in the rush and stress of daily life. It’s no wonder that foods and beverages that acidify the body’s inner environment are typically what can be found in our fridges. Many meats, grains, sugars as well as popular drinks like coffee, tea, soft drinks and alcohol are among those that raise acidity levels – one of the principle causes of weight gain. Ionised alkaline water can be very helpful in this regard, as it helps neutralize acid.
Acidity and weight gain
One of the reasons behind weight gain is the fact that our bodies are more acidic than they should be. The body removes some toxic acids through urination, defecation and perspiration. However, in the case of over-acidity, it is incapable of detoxifying fully – some acids stay in the system. In order to protect itself, the body creates fat cells to bind to and neutralize acids – a process that results in weight gain. Reducing your rations (calories) or cutting down fats may not bring much success, as it doesn’t do very much to affect the formation of acids. On the contrary, if you consume large amounts of acidic foods and beverages, acidity levels will continue to increase.
Some dieticians recommend substituting carbs with protein rich foods such as meat. Note that meats are acid-forming foods. So if you want to lose weight in a healthy way, you should be careful not to overindulge in them and opt for alkalizing foods.
Be cautious about intense physical activity. The latter usually goes along with a lean diet as a means of staying in shape. Although exercise can play an important role in maintaining acid-alkaline balance, excessive physical activity increases the production of acids and leads to the acidification of the body’s inner environment. For one, it increases the production of lactic acid in the muscles, which can cause pain and discomfort.
Advantages of ionized alkaline water
Due to its better absorption, fluidity and detoxifying effect, ionised water helps neutralize the body’s acids and restore acid-alkaline balance. The smaller cluster size allows ionised water molecules to be absorbed into cells and tissues more quickly and easily than molecules of regular water. In comparison, the absorption rate of ionised alkaline water is up to 6 times higher than that of tap water.
If you drink sufficient amounts of alkaline water, you may unburden your system significantly, as alkalis neutralize and flush out acid build-up. Such water dissolves toxins and fat at a higher speed, thus helping your body regulate your weight, as it doesn’t need to accumulate fat anymore. Once the body has no more need for extra fat as protection, it will eliminate the fat on its own and thus facilitate the process of weight loss.
Alkaline water also helps to break down fatty elements in your food and works as a natural appetite suppressant. Dieticians remind us that one of the reasons people overeat is because they frequently confuse hunger with thirst. Instead of drinking a glass of fresh water, we keep visiting the fridge again and again, thus making sure that those extra pounds stay in place. Experiment with that. Don’t rush to look for food every time your stomach urges you to do so. Drink some ionised alkaline water and maybe you’ll realise that that is all your stomach wanted and real hunger is still a few hours away.
